A Collective Welcome

I feel I should open with a "Hi, y'all!" but that seems sort of predictable, doesn't it? Like it's the only way a Southerner can greet you, almost. Well, however you're accustomed to being greeted, you have my welcome to my husband's and my blog, The Couple Who. Nice to meet you!

We started this blog for several reasons, the most important being that we have been through quite a few emotional ups-and-downs over the course of our almost two year marriage, and as we've dealt with each and come back together, we've had to examine those things which kept us together and those which threatened to separate us.

    • Cooking - kept us together.
    • Crafting - kept us together.
    • Writing - kept us together.
    • Steampunk and Geekiness - kept us together.
    • Hope - kept us together.
All the rest - the self-criticism and the eating disorders, the homesickness and the confusion - they were trying to tear us apart... and I think they might have if it hadn't been for those activities we undertook as a couple. The spirituality of taking part in them each week and being reminded that we were each still there under the anger, the befuddlement, and the sadness acted as a light for us both. We finally began to see each other again.

It is my firm belief now that the Couple Who do things together can stay together, and it doesn't even matter whether those things are cooking, crafting, writing, or gardening, or if it's a common interest like Steampunk, geek fandoms, or even social change - find something that you can do together. If it's right for you both, you'll grow as a couple as much as individuals, and find yourself again facing the person you first fell in love with.

These are our stories of such adventures together as well as our journey to find the home where we belong. We hope that you will enjoy them, and we welcome your comments and thoughts. Thank you for your time and readership.
